What is Microneedling?
Microneedling (Collagen Induction Therapy) is a rejuvenating procedure that utilizes micro-fine, sterile needles (ranging in length from 0.2-2.5mm) to stimulate collagen production. The needles cause superficial and controlled puncturing of the skin in order to initiate a temporary inflammatory response, causing the skin to repair itself and stimulate collagen synthesis.
What Can I Expect from Microneedling?
Microneedling is minimally-invasive with little down-time (the skin may appear red for a few days post-procedure) and with limited side effects, making it a preferred alternative to more invasive procedures like laser resurfacing. On a short-term basis, the skin will appear more plump due to inflammation and superficial swelling. Long-term, the skin will continue to show improvements over a 6-12 month period, with data showing an increase of up to 400% in collagen and elastin deposition at 6 months, after 4 microneedling sessions.
What Can Microneedling Treat?
Microneedling is an excellent treatment option to target a wide array of skin concerns:
- Fine lines and wrinkles
- Acne scarring
- Pore clarity
- Texture and tone
- Stretch marks
- Hair loss
- Needles shorter in length (0.2-0.5mm) also significantly improve the penetration of topical products into the skin
How Often Can I Have the Procedure?
In a professional setting, 3-5 sessions (dependent upon your skin concerns) spaced approximately 4-6 weeks apart. At home, with rollers of a 0.25mm needle length, we recommend 1-2x weekly use.
We love to combine Microneedling with our Microneedling Solution that features growth factors and cytokines, derived from laboratory culture of human bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells.
The Microneedling Solution accelerates the skins wound-healing response, providing more stimulation of growth factors with a faster healing response, reduced downtime and better results.
